Each of the 4 lectures will center around my own experience and philosophy behind the making of music with technology.

Lecture 1: Growing Up Under the Sign of McLuhan: A Personal View of the History and Philosophy of Creating Music with Technology.

In addition to a brief history of electronics in music, this lecture deals with the following dichotomies:

Live vs recorded music.
Public vs private communication.
Pure vs narrative music.
The ennobling of 'noise'.

Examples will range from the Beatles to John Cage.

Lecture 3: '' Multi-Media:Public Performance" This lecture will include a discussion and demonstraton of the types of media and how they are controlled. Four of my own large scale media works will be discussed along with video tapes of performances and rehearsals.

Lecture 4: ''Private-Media: A New Chamber Art" In this final lecture I will discuss and demonstrate how the computer is, can be and might be used in creating new forms of intimate [personal] music/art for the living room.
